Baby Winter Care

Newborn babies need a lot of care and support during the winter season, especially until the point they can sustain themselves on their own. This becomes even becomes a priority in the winter season. The drop in temperature can trigger various changes in the body so, to support the immunity system of babies, here are some of the important things you can do to give good care.

  1. Use Humidifier- Use a portable heater near your baby but, also install a humidifier to level the moisture in the room as it can absorb the water vapours of the room that can leave the air dry.
  2. Use Mild Moisturises- Children’s skin is very sensitive and winter season can be pretty harsh, so to maintain the gentleness, softness, and lush use moisturising creams made specifically for babies, rich in cream and butter.
  3. Avoid Usage of lots of Products- Don’t overdo it just because you are suggested to take care of your baby more. Just to avoid the infections and keeping them clean, don’t expose them to a variety of soaps, shampoos, lotions and creams. Their skin might get irritated. Water baths are fine, but soaps should be used once in a week.
  4. Massaging- This is highly recommended by doctors caretakers. Massaging stimulates the blood flow within the body and helps to boost the immunity system of the body. While doing the massages keep the room temperature warm and choose an appropriate time in the day. Use natural oil if possible.
  5. Use warm Blankets- Not heavy as it may cause suffocation but warm enough for the little ones to keep them cosy and safe. This will also give them a good sleep.
  6. Don’t stop Breastfeeding- Mothers milk is a boon as it contains various antibodies and nutrients to strengthen the immunity system of the little ones.
  7. Be Hygienic Yourself- Since the family spends most of the time together with kids it is important to maintain the hygiene of yourself. Use sanitizer to keep your hands clean.
